Research, writing and lectures on energy issues, air pollution, climate change, renewable energy use, job creation through environmental protection, social equity and the environment, and other environmental issues.

Professional Experience

Pacific Institute, Oakland, CA, 2004. Conducted research on energy use and air pollution in California.

Redefining Progress, Oakland, CA, spring 2004 and summer 1996. Research Associate. Co-authored reports for American Association of Blacks in Energy and Congressional Black Caucus on impacts of energy and climate change policies on African Americans. Developed plan for taxing air pollution emissions in California.

Environmental Defense Fund, Oakland, CA, fall and winter 1998-1999. Researcher. Conducted research and provided ideas on indicators of environmental quality for the Scorecard web page.

Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, Berkeley, CA, summer and fall 1992. Research Assistant. Compared models for reducing carbon dioxide emissions in the U.S., and studied barriers to energy efficiency improvements in industry. Co-authored a paper titled "Energy Use and CO2 Emissions – Integrating Pricing and Regulatory Policy" (Energy 19(8):855-867, 1994, Aug.).

Conservation Law Foundation, Boston MA, summer 1990. Research intern, transportation demand management.

Ecological Engineering Associates, Falmouth MA, 1988-1989. Project manager, experimental wastewater treatment facility.
